The Year for Slowness and Intention
I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want life to look like this year—my last year in my twenties, my first full year as a mom of two little girls. In a world shaped by algorithms and overnight shipping from massive corporations, I find myself craving the pace of even ten years ago.
When I started The Painted Press, Etsy was still a small platform for artists and makers—people who created with their hands, offering something truly unique. It was a space that celebrated craftsmanship and stood in contrast to cheaply made, mass-produced goods. As the internet landscape continues to change, I hope to carve out a small space where intention and slowness still exist.
To create with one’s hands requires patience. To pursue beauty means choosing to see the world differently—to interact with it in a way that is thoughtful and deliberate. I think a lot of us are feeling burnt out by the endless sales pitches, the constant scrolling, and the idea that happiness is always just one more purchase away.
"I am going to make everything around me beautiful—that will be my life."
Many of the new things we’re introducing at The Painted Press were born from this desire for slowness. Just last week, I sent one of my dearest friends a postcard from our new collection, sharing thoughts on which books we should read together this year. Yesterday, I received a postcard in return. Let me tell you—I cherish those handwritten words so much more than if they had been sent in a text. There’s just something about it.
So I hope you'll check in here whenever you think of us. I hope our creations inspire you to slow down, to cherish the beauty in the little things, and to find joy in the handmade. I'm truly honored that you're here, and I can't wait to share this journey with you.
